In the winter Sylvan Lake is a popular location for Ice fishing, with trout ranging from rainbow, cutthroat, brook and brown. This 42-acre lake enables people to set up almost anywhere they would like.Around the lake are popular trails with access to the state park and national forest. The trails are great for hiking, but in the winter, they are more popular for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledding. The long roads and larger trails are accessible to snow mobiles as well.This fantastic state park is open year around and overnight visitors can camp or stay reserve a cabin or yurt.There is no service once you leave the main road from Eagle, CO, and follow the signs to the lake. Make sure to bring some food and water as there is no store or source available. The park is open all year around and seven day a week. The parking fee for the day in 7$ and overnight camping is an extra 10$.If you plan on fishing, fishing licenses and bait are available in Eagle, right before you enter the state park. Check weather forecast beforehand, as you may need a 4x4 to access the lake in the winter.During the summer, the park is open to kayakers, paddlers and even more fishers. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful wilderness of Colorado.
Sylvan Lake Trail is 1.5 miles long around the lake, and provides fishing access and a relaxing walk. The 5.8 mile West Brush Creek Trail connects The Meadows Day Use Area to the campground and lake.
Popular trails on the surrounding White River National Forest - Sneve Gulch, McKenzie Gulch, Nolan Lake, Lake Charles and Ironedge are all good options.
