Explore Dante's View in Death Valley

Inyo County, California

Description

Added by Sassy Resuello

Dante's View is one of the best photographic spots in the park, with amazing panoramic views of Death Valley.

From the parking lot, you will already be greeted by this great view of Badwater Basin. You will also see trails which go further out. Follow the trail to the edge to get amazing 360 views of Death Valley. You will get to see different mountain ranges, such as the Panamint Range, Death Valley Canyon, Hanaupah Canyon, Telescope Peak, and the Great Basin Ridges of Nevada. And on very clear days, you'll get to see both the highest and lowest points of United States: Mount Whitney & Badwater Basin.

Dante's View is great to visit during the early mornings or late afternoons, when the sun is not too high in the sky. I suggest catching the sunrise or the sunset at this location, or plan to stay later in the night to go star gazing.

Fun Fact: Dante's View was used as a film location for the 1977 Star Wars movie.
