You want Paradise? Welcome to Kalalau. What better way to end your 11 mile adventure down the Na Pali Coast than to spend the night on this pristine beach.
After 11 challenging miles of hiking up and down and along towering cliffs through lush greenery, roaring waterfalls, and heavy streams with jaw-dropping views of the deep blue Pacific your adventure isn't complete until you arrive at the Kalalau Beach. Upon heading down our last hill and crossing one more stream a blond haired girl with a white Plumeria in her hair met us, greeted us, welcoming us to Kalalau!
This is one of the pristine beaches you'll find, as the rugged cliffs of the Nali Poat dissolve at the ocean. There are plenty of places to camp whether your preference is staying in the trees or to venture onto the sand where you can find a sea arch. We ended up staying in the sheltered sea arch falling asleep to the sound of the waves. We awoke to watching dolphins swimming nearby. There's also waterfall nearby where you can purify you drinking water.
But be aware the Kalalau Trail has been called one of the most dangerous trails in America; the streams along the trail can swell up to very dangerous levels with little or no warning, rocks can fall from the cliffs above hitting hikers and campers, the trail has sheer cliffs and narrow, often slippery trails, and strong riptides have claimed many lives at the ocean. So use caution when hiking!
