13 Photos of Amazing Camping in Wisconsin's Peninsula State Park
Camping is amazing in Wisconsin. There are numerous campsites across the state, however the best places to do this are at our state parks. In Peninsula State Park, most of the campsites are on the shoreline. A reservation system is usually in order for Peninsula, however they always have walkup reservations available.
When you are camping in Wisconsin in Door County, you can look forward to this as your backyard:
As the sun starts to set, you can start your fire, and get ready for dinner over the flames. Of course you will be cooking locally made brats from Door County :).
Get your citronella candles ready for a night of bugs/mosquitos!
Bring your lantern to venture down to the shore to catch a glimpse of the Milky Way!
After a night in your tent, you can wake up this as your view:
After you take in the morning colors, enjoy a nice kayak ride on Lake Michigan and explore the islands off the shore:
After a quick ride on the lake, you can come back and enjoy one last nice breakfast over the fire. I'm not sure if any of you have tried this, but if you are eating bacon off the cast iron, reuse the grease off the bacon for your toast for a flavorful treat in the morning!
If you are staying near Nicolet Beach, you can walk right to the main beach area and rent a kayak (if you didn't bring your own).
There are so many things to do and see at Peninsula State Park that I will cover in future posts, I just wanted to show you all what you get to experience if you are camping here. A wonderful experience where you get to stay on the shores of Lake Michigan and experience the wonders of northern Wisconsin in a beautiful state park!
