Camp at Morganton Point Campground

Morganton Campground is located about 100 miles north of Atlanta, deep into the Chattahoochee National Forest. Sitting on the northern shore of Blue Ridge Lake, Morganton is the only developed campground on the lake. Reservable on a first come first serve basis, there are over 40 campsites split between RV sites and walk-in tent sites. All sites in the grounds are equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, tent pad, and a post to hang trash bags, while the bigger RV sites also include power and water hookups. The campground also has a newly built bath house located near the entrance providing toilets, hot water showers and even large heaters for the winter months.  

Blue Ridge Lake has a multitude of outdoor activities for campers to take advantage of. Most sites in the campground have direct beach access and make it easy to launch personal paddle crafts like kayaks, canoes and paddle boards directly from shore. 

The lake is also open to motorized crafts including boats and jetskis. Access to the lake can be found at either Morgan Point Boat ramp which is a half mile from the campground, or Lakewood Landing to the north. Fishing is also permitted on the lake, fisherman will be able to catch a wide variety of bass and other fish. Visitors are encouraged to check with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for a complete listing of freshwater fishing regulations for Lake Blue Ridge. 

During the summer months Blue Ridge is a perfect place for recreational swimming, the cool blue water provides a welcomed retreat from the hot and humid weather. 

The area surrounding Blue Ridge Lake and Morganton Campground has some great opportunities for hikers. Shorter, more relaxing hiking trails can be found along the shore line of the lake, with easy trails that wind through shaded forests. For more experienced hikers, access to Appalachian and Benton MacKave trails are close to the campground with the  Brasstown Bald Recreation Area, home to Georgia's tallest mountain and an incredible 360 degree view, is only 42 miles from Morganton Point.
