15 Images from a Relaxing Weekend in the Northern Rockies
A relaxing weekend spent among mountains, frozen lakes, wildlife and Canada's second largest hot spring.
A couple of weeks ago a friend and I road tripped up to Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park and Muncho Lake Provincial Park for a long weekend. We spent most of our time relaxing in the hot springs and let all of our problems melt away in the hot water. Spending a weekend in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service is sometimes what is needed to relax and reset. My friend and I ate amazing food, and by amazing I mean mouth watering, at the Northern Rockies Lodge that is situated right on Muncho Lake, photographed wildlife, explored the area, and of course, hung out in the hot springs.
Please enjoy the photos and descriptions of the them.

Another section of the hot springs. It is the second largest hot spring in Canada.

The hanging gardens in Liard Hot Springs Provincial Park look great in any season, but to see their full affect you would have to check them out around late summer.
One of the few Wood Bison along the Alaska Highway. They are a species at risk and can be found between Muncho Lake and the border of British Columbia and the Yukon.

Can't go to the mountains and not take a classic mountain sunrise shot.

This is me admiring how epic the light was coming through those clouds.
If you ever get the chance to check this place out for yourself, I highly recommend going in the winter! This highway gets insanely busy, as well as the camp grounds and the hot springs during the summer.
