8 Bucket List Canyoneering Adventures in Southern Utah
It's cold, rainy and windy at home, which means I'm daydreaming about Southern Utah.
When I was 17, I took a canyoneering trip down to Southern Utah with my high school environmental science class. We spent a few days gathering and analyzing samples, camping, learning about the geology of the region, and canyoneering. The memories from that trip always stand out as a highlight of my life--how lucky was I to have such a rad class trip in high school?! I've managed to make it back to Southern Utah almost every year for climbing and canyoneering trips and those adventures always seems to work their way into my conscious when it's cold and stormy in my new home in San Francisco. I haven't hit up any of the canyoneering trips below, but man, they sure sound fun right about now!
Before you dive in, please remember that canyoneering is inherently dangerous (just ask Aron Ralston) and requires specific skills and experience to do safely. If you aren't an experienced rock climber or you don't have experience canyoneering, you should never embark on an adventure like these without a guide or a trusted friend who does have the necessary skills and experience.
