The Swift Creek trail is an 18.1 mile backpacking or trail running trip in the Trinity Alps featuring glorious granite slabs, majestic meadows, rushing rivers and stunning stargazing.
After the first set of switchbacks, you'll emerge in Mumford Meadows. A few switchbacks later and you'll be stunned by the huge granite cliffs. There some great spots to camp - if you cross the stream (perfect for filtering water) you'll find some more spots near the water. The furthest spot has a great fire pit and a bench made of slab wood across two boulders. It is recommended to wear pants because the trail can be overgrown in places.
Stargazing in Mumford Meadows is a must! Dogs and horses are allowed to use this trail. The trail is best used from June to October given the amount of snow that accumulates at elevation.
