Take in amazing mountain scenery on this secluded, multi-day backpacking trip to Mirror Lake.
Mirror Lake, one of the most photogenic and peaceful lakes in the area, is accessible via the Two-Pan Trailhead, off of Upper Lostine Road.
The hike follows the river that flows down from the Lakes Basin, so water is plentiful throughout. You will slowly move up the valley, crossing the river a couple of times, so waterproof boots are a must. There is one occasion when wading through the water is necessary, but the water remains low enough that it is safe to do so.
After hiking for a ways, you will arrive at a sign that says "Lakes Basin," and at this point you are nearly there. Mirror Lake is the first lake you reach, and there are many more if you continue down the trail. Lakes Basin is a popular backpacking spot in the Wallowas, so hiking further may provide more privacy.

My parents took me backpacking in this area many times as a kid. It is a beautiful trip. Don't let the switchbacks get you down.

Definitely a must do hike! If possible do it on a weekday to avoid the crowds. We rolled in on Saturday and many of the camp area were already occupied. Also bring some good bug spray. They were out with a vengeance in late July.

One of many beautiful lakes in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Also accessible from the East Eagle Trailhead if you want to do the whole 45 mile Eagle Cap loop
