Beyond the Trail: 5 Unique Adventures in Marin County
Give your hiking boots a break.
It's no secret that Marin County, just north of San Francisco, is a happening adventure destination. The terrain—green hills and craggy mountains leading to oceanside cliffs and sandy beaches—is remarkable as it is, but it is made even more noteworthy by its close proximity to a major city. You could be eating burritos in the Mission District, and find yourself sunning on Muir Beach less than an hour later.
How's that for awesome?
Marin is known for its fantastic hiking, but there are many more unique adventures to be had. We teamed up with the crew at the Marin Visitors Bureau to get the scoop on the best places to explore Marin...no hiking boots required.

Experienced rock climbers won't want to miss the chance to do some sport climbing at Mickey's Beach. Most routes are in the 5.12s and 5.13s range, but there are a few 5.10s's as well. Be sure to time your climb for low tide, otherwise, the belay spots will be underwater.
