Enjoy this quiet, scenic trail between the trees along the Lehigh Gorge.

It was a rainy day, which brings along mud (but I think mountain biking is better in the rain and mud anyways).

Enter the trail by going through the county parking lot and to the left end under the bridge. The trail starts along the tracks and you can admire the restored old rail cars. Cross over the bridge farther down and overlook the Lehigh River; you may be able to wave at some rafters. Once you cross the bridge, there will be a small trail to your right with a sign that says "Lock #2". You can continue past this and stay on the main trail, but we decided to venture down Lock #2 to see what it had to offer, and we were not disappointed!

This was such a beautifully scenic trail. It seemed to be a trail less traveled, since there were tiny flowers and grasses starting to regrow along the barely identifiable trail. We followed this until we came across a large stone structure, which we of course went to the top ledge of. This put us right next to the river where we saw some rafters with whom we exchanged smiles and laughter. Once we saw them off, we went back onto the trail and came across an opening to the river where we stopped for a snack until we decided to carry on. The end of the trail was another stone structure that we stood on again for a little while, then decided to head back through the trees back to town.

If you are like me and can eat ice cream even in the cold rain, I would highly recommend stopping off at Alice's Pantry on Broadway. They have homemade ice cream, every flavor hot chocolate and biscotti, and coffee for the coffee drinkers out there. I would personally recommend their peanut butter ice cream; holy delicious!
