Camp at Beartown State Forest
Great Barrington, Massachusetts
Description

Small, peaceful, and totally homey... what more could you ask for?
On a spontaneous adventure, we were lucky to have ended up car camping at the beautiful Beartown State Forest.
From the main entrance of the state forest, the campsite is only a few minutes drive to the right of the road. The campsite is popular, but only limited to 12 sites, so during the summer make sure to plan way ahead! Each site has a fire pit with grill and a picnic table surrounded by forest and near the water.
Campsites range in sizes and views! For example, all though site 1 and 2 are close to the road, the two are best reserved for large parties since site 2 lies behind 1. (We stayed at site 2 with no one in 1.) Site 11 may be one of the most popular as the pond sits directly in front and is one of the smaller sites perfect for 1-4 people. Sites 1, 3, and 4 are also for the standard non-electric.
Each site has it's own personal touch that makes it special and desirable for different groups. And while you're here, be sure to explore on the Benedict Pond Loop, an easy hike around the pond with a lot of value!
P.S. "Camping is available from mid-May until mid-October in the designated campground only. Reservations are suggested. Several sites are wheelchair accessible, call for information. No group sites or cabins are available. Campground office hours: 8am-4:30pm."
