Camp at Black Canyon of the Gunnison's South Rim Campground
Montrose, Colorado

Beautiful campground in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
The South Rim Campground is located about 6 miles inside Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. There are a total of 88 sites, 34 of which are available year-round. Reservations are definitely recommended, but are not required - loop C is first-come, first-served. Loop B fills up first, as it has electrical hookups, but chances are you'll be able to find a site up to a week before you go.
All of the sites are in oak-brush forest, making each site feel secluded and totally private. There's also a trailhead in the campground, making it super simple to get a day of exploration in.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison brings in their water by truck, so there is no RV filling or running water at the campground, but there are vault toilets. Firewood is sold at the entrance to the park, just off Highway 50.
From June 1 to July 31, 2017, dogs are allowed in campsites, but may not be taken on walks (even on leash) around the South Rim Campground or on the because of potentially aggressive deer protecting their fawns.

Reviews
For a national park, this campground and area is so so quiet. The views are phenomenal but it is pretty trecherously steep if you try to hike down into the canyon at all - most trails just pass around the rim
