Looking for a romantic getaway but you’d prefer to spend your nights around a campfire? This adventure is for you. This beautiful Napa Valley campground has it all – 10 miles of hiking trails, 1,900 acres to explore, and…new yurts! Yurts are basically cool circular tents that allow you enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing the comforts of a cabin. While this definitely falls into the category of “glamping”, I’m pretty sure your significant other won’t be complaining. Besides, there’s nothing worse than waking up on the ground after a long day of wine tasting.
Daytime visitors can bring a picnic basket and bottle of wine and enjoy a day in the leafy shade of their day use area. On hot summer days, bring a swimsuit and enjoy a dip in the park’s spring fed swimming pool.
On a warm day, try the shady, 3-mile-long Ritchey Canyon trail, which can be reached from the campground or from a parking area east of the visitor center. This hike will take you past impressive second-growth redwood stands that sprouted after logging in the 1850s, as well as Douglas-firs, big leaf maples, madrones, tanoaks and oaks.
Another popular hike is the 5-mile-long loop up to 1,170-foot Coyote Peak. Vegetation blocks the view in most places, but occasionally you'll get glimpses of Napa Valley and Mount Saint Helena.
Yurts cost $70/night. Reserve yours here.

Went with our little guy as his first foray into camping. It was amazing and a perfect overnight trip! The yurts are clean and brand new. They come furnished with a twin bed, two cots, and a table with bench. They're big enough for a travel crib and have a locking door with window. The campsites are trail accessible and close to wineries if you want to take advantage for a day trip. It was a bit cold at night when we went (in February), but we'll definitely be back late spring/early summer!
