Camp At Burnt Corral Campground On Apache Lake
Roosevelt, Arizona
Description
Added by Kevin Kaminski
Great campsites near the lake. Dog friendly!
Located in the Superstition Wilderness about 65 miles northeast of Phoenix, AZ, Apache Lake is one of the most popular recreational lakes in Arizona because it has something for everyone: hiking, boating, fishing, water skiing, camping, swimming, and more! The Burnt Corral Campground is located on the northern (upper) end of Apache Lake, which spans about 17 miles in length. If you are coming from Hwy 188, the Upper Burnt Corral Campground is about 5.2 miles past the Roosevelt bridge and the Lower Burnt Corral Campground is another .7 miles. Both campgrounds have restrooms and water spigots. While there are no fees for the campsites themselves, you will need to purchase a Tonto Pass for each vehicle / boat. You can purchase a Tonto Pass for $6/day at any Tonto National Forest Ranger or District office, many retail outlets including gas stations and grocery stores, or online (http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5274504). Tonto Passes are NOT sold at the campgrounds.

Reviews
This campground has quite a bit to offer. It is a very scenic drive to the camp site, many camp sites to choose from with different perks about each spot, and a view that’s amazing! Highly suggest camping in the winter time here, we were 1 of 6 camp sites for the weekend with no one even close to us. Keep an eye on your dogs though, we had some skunks sneak up on us. Other than that I have no complaints.

This was a nice place to camp for the weekend. We stayed at the south campground and it was packed, but there are nearly 80 campsites, so we were able to find an open one. Unfortunately some people trash the sites and there was a lot of garbage everywhere. Heads up - you won't get Verizon or AT&T cell service.
