We have camped in NYS for years, and it is important for people to know that you should NOT bring firewood with you. It is NYS law that you can’t transport firewood more than 50 miles from its source. This is to protect our forests from invasive pests that have decimated forests in other places. Please change your packing list so it does not include firewood. Firewood can be purchased from local businesses near the campgrounds and sometimes in the campgrounds. That said, Fish Creek and Rollins Pond Campgrounds are wonderful. The canoeing is second to none and there is much to do in the area, including hikes for all abilities.

Nice review of a great NY State campground. However, Your packing list includes “firewood”. PLEASE, whenever and wherever you camp, LEAVE YOUR FIREWOOD HOME! In NYS, it is ILLEGAL to bring untreated (not kiln-dried and certified) firewood into the state or move firewood more than 50 miles from it’s source. Moving firewood is the prime way invasive and tree-killing insects and diseases like Asian longhorned beetle, Emerald ash borer, Suothern Pine beetle and Oak wilt. Protect the trees and beauty of our campgrounds and forests by buying your camp wood from local sources. There are plenty of roadside firewood vendors near all state campgrounds. Our trees, campgrounds and forests thank you.

Super family friendly campground. Most the campsites are on the water. Lots of kayaking/canoeing trips you can do right from your campsite. Highly recommend.
