Description
Added by Shalee Blackmer
Serene campsites situated just steps away from a quiet Michigan beach.
Located just south of Charlevoix is Fisherman's Island State Park. The park offers miles of biking/hiking trails, and campsites directly on the beach of Lake Michigan.
Although located just outside of town, there is no service in this area, leaving you completely cut off from the outside world. The shore is located in a small bay area, which makes it a perfect location for SUPing and kayaking. The pure water is so clear the bottom can be seen perfectly at twenty feet deep, so bring your snorkeling/ free diving gear!
Perhaps the most unique feature of this campground is the large amount of Petoskey stones found along the beach. Petoskey stones are unique fossilized stones that are only found along a small section of northern Michigan beaches.
Before you go, call the park office to reserve your campsite. During holiday weekends it is common for the park to be completely booked.
