Camp along the Oregon Coast, just 27 minutes south from Cannon Beach and an hour north of Cape Kiwanda. Easy car camping right next to the ocean!

Nehalem Bay State Park is a great central location on the Oregon Coast to use as a base camp, whether you want to go south to explore Cape Kiwanda or go north to photograph the famous Cannon Beach. There are six loops: A-F, and only A-C are open in the winter. The only first-come-first-served area is Loop C, but you shouldn't have an issue finding a campsite especially in the off-season. We took C42, because of its location right next to a trail leading to the beach. There are options for yurts, and full-hookup is available. A picnic table and fire pit are available at each site. If you come in late, there is a self-registration kiosk; find a site, write down the site number, fill out the rest of the form and pay back at the kiosk dropbox. Keep the front copy on the dash of your car. There is plenty of space available in each spot. Enjoy the incredible endless coast right at your fingertips!

Reviews

This campground was my 'home away from home' during summers as a kid. I've been going to Nehalem Bay State Park for the past 25+ years, and continue to go without family. The Park Rangers are always incredibly hospitable, and the quality of the sites rarely disappoint. With a very large stretch of beach with easy, sandy paths to access, and a variety of nearby activities all within a short drive - I will continue to come back here year after year. (Secret pro-tip: F Loop has the best showers - trust me on this!)
