Camp at Silver Bell Campground
Aspen, Colorado
Description
Added by Kelley Dodge
Beautiful campground among the aspens. Find peace & quiet right down the road from the Maroon Bells!
Escape the bustle of town and head out of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road. Follow the signs to Maroon-Bells Snowmass Wilderness Area. There is a $10 entrance fee (unless you are a national parks pass cardholder) plus an additional fee to camp.
Continue down the road to Silver Bell Campground. With a total of 14 sites, it is best to reserve a spot beforehand, but the campground always holds a few available on a first come, first serve basis. You can make your reservation here: https://www.recreation.gov/cam...
Sites are nestled in an aspen forest, especially scenic in the fall when the leaves change. There are 6 sites that require a short walk (no more than 100 yards) and sit above Maroon Creek. The stunning Maroon Bells peaks can be seen in the distance from the campground.
Sites are equipped with a level tent pad, bear/animal storage locker, campfire ring, and picnic table. The campground also has vault toilets and drinking water. Electrical hook-ups are not available.
The campground is minutes from Maroon Lake, making it easy to get an early start whether it's hitting the trails or watching the sunrise at the Bells.
