Camp at Upper View Campground
Moose, Wyoming
Description
Added by Sarah Levant
FREE camping off of Forest Road 30310 offers an unbeatable view of the Tetons and is only 30 minutes from the entrance of Grand Teton National Park.
There is so much to see and do in Wyoming's National Parks but with a view (of the Tetons) and a price (FREE) like this it is pretty unlikely you will want to leave this unbeatable campsite. Take is from us, after 14 months of traveling the country this is by far our FAVORITE BOONDOCKING CAMPSITE... and it is FREE. Sedona's Angel Valley is also a top contender but the remoteness of the Teton's Upper View Campground just can't be beat.
TO ACCESS: use GPS coordinates: 43.7638, -110.5538. Turn right onto Forest Rd 30310 which is right across the street from Cunningham Cabin Historic Site. The road to Upper View Campground is dirt but doable in pretty much any car or RV rig. The campground isn't exactly a secret but there is plenty of room for everyone. Once you reach the top of the hill, take your first left and choose a spot of your liking.
The Must Hike nearby:
When you find yourself ready to sneak away from your beautiful campsite, make sure to tackle the 16.5 miles through Cascade Canyon to the breathtaking Lake Solitude. Take the Jenny Lake boat shuttle to shave off a few miles each way. This is an exceptional day hike with incredible views of Grand Teton and surrounding mountains.
The Must Eat nearby:
And when you find yourself too tired to cook by the fire, venture into the town of Jackson for beers and burgers at The Bird. Enjoy yet another beautiful view at this friendly, local joint.
The Must-Do Yoga nearby:
And when you find yourself sore from all of your view admiring, check out one of the many spectacular classes at Inversion Yoga Studio in Jackson. Your first class is only $10!
