Camp out at Manzanita Lake Cabins in Lassen Volcanic NP

Deep in the Lassen National Forest is the beautiful and surprisingly one of the least visited National Parks, Lassen Volcanic National Park. On the north entrance of the park, you will find the beautiful Manzanita Lake Cabins and Campground with the gorgeous blue lake in the foreground. 

Getting there: 

From the Bay Area. Take I5 north towards Redding, after driving through the small town of Cottonwood, you will take the 667B exit taking Dersch Rd to the right. Here is where I recommend picking up last minute supplies and filling up on gas before you enter the Lassen National Forest. Follow along Dersch Rd until you reach highway 44. Take a right on 44 until you reach the park entrance. Continue to follow the signs to the campground and cabin area.

Cabins:

There are 20 cabins on site with 3 different cabin models; a one room, a two room, and a bunkhouse. The one room has one double bed, table and four chairs, and a small porch. This cabin is $70.35 per night. The two room has one double bed, 3 single bunk beds, a futon, table and chairs, and a small porch. This cabin is $94.35 per night. The bunkhouse only has 8 bunk beads. This cabin $91.35 per night. Note: these cabins do not come with any linens or camping equipment, but these can all be rented by the resort at an additional fee. Amenities:

Forgot some cooking supplies or need extra food or beer/wine? No Problem! The Camp Store has literally everything you need for camping. They even sell freshly made sandwhiches if you don't want to the cooking yourself. After a nice hike around the lake it's also recommended you stop in the store for some delicious soft serve. Also, down by the lake there is a small fleet of kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards that you can rent by the hour. Although cabin rentals might not be considered "true" camping in some people's eyes, it is absolutely a great alternative for young families to get outdoors and have some of the luxuries of home.
