Canoe at Jackson Lake
Alta, Wyoming
Description
Added by Kim Baker
This is such a unique way to experience the Tetons. It offers breathtaking views without all the crowds.
We launched the canoe from the Signal Mountain boat ramp. Right away you have incredible views of the Teton's and as the sun was setting we had the lake to ourselves. There are small nearby islands to explore or surrounding beaches for your enjoyment.
Camping with the Canoe: around the lake there are 11 backcountry campsites; a permit is required. You can also store your canoe on the beach along the campsites at Signal Mountain Campground and stay the night there. Campsites fill up early in the day so we reserved ours before renting the canoe.
Renting the canoe: There are hourly, but no overnight rentals, right on the lake. For a more complete and affordable experience Adventure Sports in Moose, WY has canoe rentals for $50 for 24hrs. Even if you have a small car they'll help you tie it to the top with no problems.

I took my parents canoeing out on Jackson Lake and they absolutely loved it! A great activity for all ages. Getting out on the water is an awesome way to see the Tetons.

If you're visiting Grand Teton NP this adventure is a must! The views you get from the water are incredible and there were hardly any other people on the water. So much fun!
