Catch the Sunset at Bean Point

Bean Point is the northernmost tip of Anna Maria Island. It is here where the waters of Tampa Bay and the waters of the Gulf of Mexico collide and is also arguably the best place on the island to view the sunset. Additionally, this stretch of beach front is usually less busy and populated than the easier to access beach fronts as you go further south on the island.

There are a myriad of options to access Anna Maria beaches and depending on where you enter will depend on the distance you’ll need to hike to get to Bean Point. It will be fairly obvious once you reach Bean Point. Once here, set up shop and await the show in front of you. The beach is comfortable enough that you don’t need to bring chairs, but feel free to do so if needed. A tasty adult beverage, however, is something that is likely needed (just be discreet about it).

Just slightly after sunset, there will be a migration of pelicans and seagulls flying north to their evening resting spot. The path and timing are without fail each evening so be sure to stay around after sunset for 5-10 minutes to take it in. It’s a sight to see. Also, keep an eye out for dolphins and manatees which are known to frequent this area 50 or so yards out from the shore.
