Located in St. George's Pioneer Park, the Little Narrows is a great short family adventure. The canyon is so narrow you will need to turn sideways to get through, although some kids can fit through straight on. The slot canyon is just a few feet from the parking lot, and there are plenty of other neat rock formations you can explore. It is also known as The Red Crack.
Pioneer Park's slot canyon is located in the red sandstone cliffs above St. George Blvd in Pioneer Park. Pioneer Park has tables for picnics and lots of fun rock formations for kids and adults to play on. The park is usually very crowded, and it can be challenging to find a parking spot in the park if you go after about noon.
There are a few bolts in the slot canyon for rock climbers to climb. The routes are in the canyon, near the bottom, where the canyon is wide enough for climbing and belaying. People are still able to pass by pretty smoothly. It is a great place to climb when it is hot because it is almost always in the shade.
The slot itself gets narrow, and you must squeeze your way through, it is about 9" at the tightest spot. The slot canyon isn't very long, maybe .1 miles, and it doesn't take too long to go through (depending on the line). Near the end, you must climb out of the slot canyon; it is easy for adults, but children may need a little help. Most people start at the bottom and climb up and out, but occasionally people will start at the opposite end and come out at the bottom; once in the slot, you cannot pass people, so be sure you are heading the same direction as everyone else.
To avoid some of the crowds; I've gone after dark with headlamps, which can be exciting, or in the early morning. Getting there early or late in the day also helps in the summer when it gets really hot during the day.

When they say “narrows” they mean it! Climb up through a sometimes *very* narrow slot canyon in the beautiful red rock of St. George’s Pioneer Park. At the top you’ll have a great view of the city! This little hike is fairly quick, but it has enough variety to make you feel really accomplished when you finish it. Love that it’s literally 5 minutes (or less!) away from town, but it still feels like an epic adventure!

I love this hike. I do it all the time! It’s quick and easy and there’s a couple of side holes you can crawl into to boulder up to the top. My only warning would be is if you are overweight, have a super busty chest, or are claustrophobic this hike won’t work for you.
