Crabbing at the Brighton Marina
Rockaway Beach, Oregon
Description

Learn how to fish for crab and then have them cooked for a scrumptious feast afterward!
Crabbing is just one of those things everyone should do along the Oregon Coast. Its fun, fairly straightforward, and then you get to eat them! Total win-win.
We were taking our time along the Oregon Coast and had heard that Kelly's Brighton Marina was a great place to learn to crab. For $100/hour (2014) we were able to rent a boat, bait, traps, and all the gear we needed to head out into Nehalem Bay and try our luck catching the sea creatures.
It was blast. After some basic, initial instruction we set off into the bay. We actually caught over 100 crabs, but law dictates you can keep only male crabs of a certain size so we used our handy measuring stick to check before throwing them back into the water.
We ended up with three good sized crabs, and after boiling them Kelly's staff helped us to clean and prep them for eating.
Then, we feasted! Our two oldest thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with our littlest being more skeptical. Overall we had an amazing experience and can't wait to hit the Oregon coast in the future so we can go again!

Reviews
For $100 we were able to rent a boat and all crabbing supplies to try crabbing. Such an awesome adventure! And once we caught our dinner they prepared it for us. Must do.
