Manitou Springs' Mineral Springs

Manitou Springs is home to eight mineral springs all fairly close to the main shopping strip of Manitou. The springs were originally utilized by the Native Americans. In the 19th century, they were utilized by visitors from all over the world due to their supposed health benefits. They all taste different based off of their mineral content, and most of them have some degree of carbonation. The mineral springs also can taste different depending on the time of year you visit. A “guide” to the springs can usually be picked at the Heritage Center. Tours of the mineral springs can also be found as well. You can park at any number of parking lots in Manitou as well as street parking. Free parking is limited.

Stratton Spring is located near the main roundabout on Manitou Ave. There is a statue of a woman above the output about to drink from the water.

Iron Spring Geyser has a strong iron taste as the name suggests. It can taste kind of like water that has been sitting in a steel container for a bit. It is located up Ruxton about a half mile or so and before the Chateau Dinner Theater.

Cheyenne Spring is seemingly the most popular spring due to its central location. It is an obvious statue next to a round, brick colored building close to the arcade.

Navajo Spring is located on the backside of a building by the arcade in an area surrounded by picnic benches. It is not always running.

Shoshone Spring is located close to the church on Manitou Ave. It often becomes covered in a hard white deposit due to the minerals contained in the water.

7 Minute Spring is located outside of a large pavilion and right next to a local park. Driving into Manitou, take a right before city hall and it is a short way down the road on the left.

Wheeler Spring is located on a wall near the post office and Soda Springs Park. In my opinion, this is one of the better tasting springs.

Twin Spring is a few hundred yards up Ruxton Ave. on the left side. It is fairly strong tasting.
