Drive along Turnagain Arm
Anchorage, Alaska
Description
Added by Natalie F
This is something that should not be missed on your visit to Alaska: get your cameras ready!
This stretch of highway is just as beautiful (if not more!) as the famous Pacific Coast Highway on the west coast. You truly couldn’t ask for more. Beautiful mountains, glaciers, and water provide the scenery here.
There are dozens of pull off opportunities. The highway is marked with mile markers and there is even a book written about each of the mile markers and what is located at each stop. This is truly a stunning adventure not to be missed. If you have more than one driver in your car do yourself a favor switch off drivers. Stop for a hike in Chugach State Park, spot beluga whales at Beluga Point, you might even spot surfers riding the tide. There is something breathtaking after every turn.
This is the route to many other destinations in Alaska such as Seward, Homer, Alyeska, and Portage.

Reviews
Hands down my favorite drive ever. Alaska is incredibly beautiful, and this drive showcases it perfectly. Watch for whales, mountain goats, moose, beard, and so many more critters. You’ll see it all on this trip.
