Drones: Changing Old Stereotypes
Just some tips from a guy stumbling his way through all of this...
I'm not that great of a photographer, and I'm an even worse videographer, but a couple weeks ago I bought the DJI Mavic Pro and it has completely changed how I approach exploring new places. For anyone that follows me on Instagram, you know I'm a huge proponent of changing the stereotypes of cities deemed "ugly" by shooting photos of specific places that locals have either forgotten or overlooked. Because I live in one of those cities (Augusta, GA) I have (sort of) made it my mission to change the stereotype of "Dis-Gusta" and slowly but surely...it's working. Drone videos of both familiar and unfamiliar places have been a massive part of this changing mindset. New perspectives of the familiar, reinvigorates a place, and that's one reason I love drones so much: anyone can find new perspectives now, not just the pros. So...if you live in a town that everyone bitches about, go try and change it. Don't move away and don't feed into the stereotype: when you choose to change the way you look at things, the things you look at do change. As one author put it, "When you look at a field of dandelions, you can either see a hundred weeds, or a thousand wishes." Enjoy the videos Part 1 and 2 of "Augusta or Nowhere"! Part 3 comes out in two weeks! Follow me on Instagram or YouTube to see the final one: @mattvanswol
