Cannon Beach is a great spot for the whole family on the Oregon coast. You'll see amazing views of Haystack Rock, especially if you come at sunset!

Start your adventure by heading to Cannon Beach, Or. Either head west on Highway 26 from Portland, OR. or Highway 101 south from Aberdeen Wa. Plan to arrive at the town a few hours before sunset, the beach stretches a couple miles, and it is awesome to walk along the beach during the day. There is public parking in the town but it does fill up quickly depending on the time of year that you visit.

If you're a photographer like me try to plan where to take your shot of Haystack rock and the Needles. This beach is great for sunset shots!

After the sun has gone down make a fire on the beach, fires are allowed and you'll see a lot of people hanging out on the beach well after the sun has gone down. There are hotels and campsites in the town as well as a few miles away from the town if your looking to stay in the area.

Cannon Beach is a beautiful, expansive beach offering opportunities to see unique wildlife and birds. We visited during Puffin nesting season and enjoyed watching the birds soar above Haystack Rock.

If you are going cannon beach, you gotta stop and take a stroll down the beach. It’s a cute little town as well. It is usually pretty busy with quite a few dogs

Famous and it doesn't disappoint! Gorgeous beach. Oregon Coast is something else! Vast beach, plenty of space to wander. Easy to photograph

My brother loves the Goonies so I go here with him to hike and explore at least once every summer. The town is so fun and it’s a guaranteed great day at the beach.

I loved Cannon beach. I would say if you're in Oregon this is a definite must do. The town surrounding this area is really nice and there are a ton of little shops to go see. Also, the free guides at the beach help people learn about the animals and fish in the area and can help you identify creatures in the tide pools! If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly, free place to go visit, this is it. This is also dog-friendly and it can be a great place for your pup to run around and have some fun!

This was my favourite beach touring down the coast. There is so much to see and do on this beach. The starfish in the rock pools are just beautiful.

Amazing beach and rock formations. Go during low tide to get closer to haystack rock and see some ocean life as well!

I've never seen the Goonies, so this beach doesn't hold as much nostalgia as it does for most but I still loved it! We arrived at night to play with the phosphorescence that sometimes is present in the sand. We had little luck save for a few sparks of green in the sand. The next morning gave us some beautiful sunshine to take in the glory of Haystack Rock and Needles!

My husband and I took trip to Cannon Beach during one of our evenings in Oregon and we are so glad we did! Sunset at Haystack Rock is breathtaking and it was so quiet - not many people where out so it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves. Such a stunning location and I just wish we could have had more time to explore!

I visited Cannon Beach on a recent road trip through Oregon and it was the best stop on my trip. I extended my trip just to stay an extra day. I camped at the Sea Ranch Park which is walking distance from town. The town also has great food and breweries. Make sure you add this stop to your trip!
