Dolphin Bay is a lagoon in Bocas del Toro that hosts bottlenose dolphins throughout much of the year.

Dolphin Bay, locally known as Laguna Bocatoriti, is popular boating destination in Bocas del Toro and for good reason. The bay hosts pods of dolphins throughout most of the year. June and July are especially good for spotting dolphins as the rougher seas surrounding the islands make the calm waters of the bay more appealing. The bay is surrounded by mangrove trees which draw an abundance of small fish and crustaceans making this a perfect habitat for dolphins. Many tour companies from the surrounding islands often bring tourists here to watch the dolphins swim in their natural habitat.

Dolphin Bay is located on the east side of Cristóbal Island and above a peninsula that juts out from the mainland. It’s about 6 miles from Bocas Town and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to reach by boat. Most boat tours from Bocas del Toro will include a visit to Dolphin Bay on the way to other scenic destinations such as Zapatilla Island

Reviews

The dolphins were really cool to see. There were many different boats coming and going. It seemed as though it is a heavily trafficked area with tourist hoping to catch a glimpse of the dolphins
