Explore an awesome, picturesque waterfall close to Ft William and Glen Nevis Campground.
Just about 10 miles from Ft. William and only a few miles from the end of the West Highland Way you can find the Steal Gorge along with Ben Nevis. Ben Nevis is a famous hill in Ft. William with an amazing view of a lake. Everyone in Ft. William knows where Steal Gorge is located. To get there, you can just take a taxi from town for about 9 pounds.
If you arrive to Ft. William at night, you can take a taxi to the Glen Nevis Campground (usually closed Nov-Mar) for about the same price. The Campground costs approximately 7 Euros per tent/night. They have wifi available, bathrooms, water, and laundry machines.
Once you get to the Steal Gorge trailhead, it is only about a 1.5 mile hike (30 minutes) to the waterfall. The hike has incredible scenery, beautiful, classic Scottish hills, amazing moss, and trees. It looks like an enchanted forest. The waterfall is public and unsupervised, so you might be able to camp here. The monitoring seemed pretty relaxed. Be careful about camping in the gorge near the waterfall though, because the wind can pick up really fast and strong between the hills. You can continue to hike from the waterfall and for several miles, but I'm not positive where it goes to. I've heard rumors of a radio tower. This place is awesome and a great place to rest for a day or so after hiking the West Highland Way!

We had a great time on this hike; saw less than 15 people. Beautiful scenery and easy hike. 100% recommend!

A great short hike to Steall! We went in September and caught a drizzle but it didn't stop us, the hike is beautiful and opens up when you hit the valley of the gorge. The falls are magnificent and seemed to be coming from the clouds, you couldn't see a source, just a rounded hill above you. For Harry Potter lovers, this fall is featured in a few of the movies, specifically the first tri-wizard task. It's a backdrop to the stadium.
