Short hike along a beautiful clear creek brimming with trout to a pleasant waterfall, nearby a short drive to an overlook to see the upper falls.
Graves Creek Falls are a series of pleasant waterfalls viewable without much effort. To get here From Hungry Horse drive south on the West Side Road (Forest Road 895) 33.6 miles to the Graves Creek Campground. From here turn right into the campground, park and take a short walk of a couple hundred feet to the first water fall. The creek in this area is fun of brook trout, so make sure to stay a little while and fish if that is your thing.
From there follow the Forest Service road (9746) adjacent to the campground for about a mile to Handkerchief Lake. A pretty lake in and of it's on right, it makes a nice stop. A mile above Handkerchief Lake you’ll find a pull-out in the road displaying Sun and Moon Falls, a nearly sheer drop surrounded by low-hanging brush. I wouldn't go much farther beyond this pull out as the road narrows quite a bit and is very overgrown, making it difficult to turn around.
Once you are done and return to the main road, make sure to stop and check out the creek as it passes under the bridge. Below the bridge, the creek flows into the reservoir into the lovely Graves Bay Swimming Hole, but not before careening off one last glistening cascade.
