Description

Added by Devin Roberts

Guana offers a wide variation of terrain with a high amount of scenic locations to explore and photograph. Make it a day on the water at one of the best fishing spots in Florida or grab a SUP or canoe and explore one of the small islands.

From the parking lot, which has a $3 entrance fee per car, you walk to the trail head and grab a small pocket sized map that does a good job of showing markers and mapping out the different path ways. This park has around 15 miles of regular trails and 25 when it's not hunting season. You can walk to beach areas or deep Florida swamps, around giant trees or close to wild life habitats. The amount of fisherman, stand up paddle boarders, and canoers can be high, but there is plenty of river to share. There are small islands lined with trails that could be accessible to anyone with a way to travel the waterways which makes the area very explorable. This place has too many activities for just one day - hiking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and more. This place has something for every one no matter who you want to bring or what you want to do year round! The selling point of this adventure is the variation, this national park really is a perfect mix of all the different terrain and activities you'll find in Florida.

Reviews

"Explore" is such an excellent word choice: this protected and well managed area is represents and stands for raw untreated, Florida wildlife. With hiking trails, kayaking and canoe launches into the inter coastal and miles of beaches, and even a educational and research center, Guana River is a place definitely worth exploring.

The GTM Reserve is wild and beautiful. The hiking is varied and the natural dunes a stunning entrance to the beach. Look for sharks teeth on the beach. When I was there it was quiet - we saw only a few others. We also saw a rattlesnake who was uninterested in us, though we gave him a wide berth.
