Fort Macon Nature Trail is a loop trail that takes you past scenic surroundings located near Morehead City, North Carolina.

Visiting this restored fort and the museum makes for a great day and family visit. There are plenty of great photo opportunities with very nice displays and good views of the ocean especially if you head out along the nature trail loop.

Hoop Pole Creek Nature Preserve Trail is a short and easy out-and-back hike leading to Money Island Bay near Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. Along the trail, you'll see many different bird species and fauna. The total hiking time is about 15-20 minutes roundtrip.

Once on Harker Island you can explore the lighthouse, walk some of the trails, walk along the beach and look for seashells and go swimming. There are many good informative signs on Harker island explaining the history of the area.
