Description

Take an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall adorned by a statute, where you can climb all the way around on steps carved out of the rock.

Khao Yai first waterfall is mesmerizing due to its surroundings. It’s in the middle of a tropical forest and surrounded by beautiful stone. You can access it so easily thanks the path carved out of it’s stone. In the middle of it, is a beautiful statue. You can walk behind where people usually give offers of flowers to Buddha.

Khao Yai National park is in the vicinity and offers countless jungle adventures, although most require you to venture deep into the jungle on a 4X4. The great thing about Khao Yai is that it’s accessible off a paved road.

If you arrive before 8:00 am, chances are, you will be the first there.

When you leave, you can stop about halfway down the road at Wang Sao Thong Waterfall. Although it is really quite small, you can grab a drink or a snack in the parking area where a small market is located.

To access Khao Yai, exit off the main road; a small sign should indicate the waterfall to you. Pass the elephant trekking, restaurants and paintball field. The waterfall is about 1.2 km or a little over half a mile up the road. If you are riding a scooter or motorcycle, be aware that the road is quite steep. When you hit a fork, keep following the road to your right, and continue up when you pass Wang Sao Thong. You will also pass a zip-lining park. Stop when you see the restaurant (maybe .05 miles after the zip lining). The waterfall entrance will be on your right. You can choose to ride down the extremely steep path, or simply park on the left-side of the road. Keep in mind that every parking around Koh Samui's sites is between 10-30 THB, so make sure you always have cash on you.
