Explore Magnolia Plantation and Gardens
Charleston, South Carolina
Description
Added by Meagan Evans
Magnolia has been selected as one of "America's Most Beautiful Gardens" (Travel + Leisure Magazine), and is the only garden honored with this distinction in the State of South Carolina!
There are several different things you can do here. Tour the gardens, boat tour, tram tour, Audubon tour, plantation tour, etc. There is a lot to see and it's a very enchanting place during the spring through summer. View birds nesting and flowers blooming!

The tour I took did a great job of explaining ALL of the history, not just the owners of the plantation.

The gardens are full of huge oak trees, cypress swamps, and trails that meander through dense foliage. There are separate fees for anything but the main gardens, but there is still lots to see with just the general admission.

This plantation is built for crowds, but if you get there early you will be able to explore the gardens almost all by yourself. There are 7 different bridges on the property and each one is unique. Try visiting in early spring to see the camellia and azalea gardens in full bloom. Watch out for alligators while walking around.
