Watch the sun sink down over the ocean and explore a typically empty beach bordered between Slangkop Lighthouse on the south end and Chapman's Peak on the north end. Noordhoek Beach is one of the less popular beaches in the area, probably because it's water is cold and there isn't as much development nearby, but nonetheless it is an incredible beach to visit - in fact, it's the most unspoiled and protected beach on the Atlantic Cape Coast!
The northernmost part of Noordhoek Beach that touches the jagged rocks of Chapman's Peak is the more scenic place to start exploring (see map location for directions to the north parking lot). Otherwise, one can park down at one of the beach-access culd-de-sacs in Kommetjie and walk from south-to-north along the beach.
If you did in fact park in northern parking lot shadowed by Chapman's Peak, simply walk down the boardwalk path to the beach. There sometimes is a large tidal plain that you might need to wade through, otherwise walk on the sandy path following the boardwalk and enjoy the wonders of Noordhoek Beach.
Explore and clamber up the large boulders to the right (north) that provide great spots to eat supper or a snack with your mate and take photographs. Otherwise, head down to the large rocks that jut out into the wave and watch the waves roll in.
Be careful not to get too close to the water and NEVER turn your back on the waves! The current by the rocks is intense, but some skilled surfers have managed to get some gnarly rides out there.
Turning to the south, one can walk all the way down to Kommetjie (8km one way) or swim around in the shallows. Just watch out for sharks - they tend to be more populous on the opposite side of the valley (in Fish Hoek), but still be careful and always go with a buddy.
After exploring the beach, head back to your car and grab a candlelit dinner at Monkey Valley Resort's Thorfynn's Restaurant, open 7 am to 11 pm everyday. Be sure to try one of their phenomenal milkshakes!
