The Wall of Love is simplicity at its finest. Located within the Montmarte neighborhood of Paris, it's an area which many people overlook but has an abundance of character and charm for the romantic in all of us.

Located in the Montmarte district of Paris, the Wall of Love--or as the French call it Le mur des je t'aime--is an off-the-beaten-path place to explore. For a city known for so many different sights to see, a simple wall full of "I Love You" over and over is easy to get lost in the mix. However, this lack of attention along with the simplicity of the square and its surroundings make the Love Wall a wonderful spot to visit, people watch, and take in the Montmarte neighborhood.

The wall itself is 430 square feet and features "I love you" 311 times in 250 languages. The closest Metro stop is Abbesses on Line 12. In exiting the station you’ll head due north Rue la Vieuville a short distance until you encounter Rictus Garden Square. It is within Rictus Square that the Love Wall sits.

The Montmarte neighborhood is best known for the Basilica of the Sacre Coeur. This popular destination can easily be coupled with the Love Wall either before or after you visit. Additionally, the shops, cafes, and streets in Montmarte rival anything else in Paris, so the simple nature of exploring the neighborhood as you go from Sacre Coeur to the Love Wall (or vice versa) was a favorite experience of ours throughout our entire Paris visit.

But find it either way! My best advice about Paris is to do it all by bike. Wherever you are, find a bike and ride to this Miss

But like the other reviewer said, nothing extremely special. If you’re doing some walking sightseeing, this is a fun stop. Quite busy, so you may need to be patient if you want pics by the wall...

If you're in the neighborhood and you have time, this is a nice place to stop. It's crowded, but if you can jostle to the front, a nice spot to take photos. But it is just a wall, and not worth a special trip.
