Description

Added by Carolyn Stearns

Beautiful sunsets. Tropical birds on migration. Easy access.

Point Pelee is located in southwestern Ontario, Canada. Although it is located in a Northern Country, the national park lies on the 42nd Parallel, making it the same latitude as northern California, Barcelona and Rome. Due to its southernly location and mediterranean climate, the area is prone to a wide migration of tropical birds, as well as stunning sunsets. It is also susceptible to very strong currents at the tip, making it dangerous for swimming.

As you enter the national park, you find yourself driving through a thick forested area until you get close to the most southern tip of Canada. The park then opens up to a beach that dips down into Lake Erie.

Reviews

Great place to spend a day, bird watching is top notch, as well as the Carolinian forest for flora and fauna.

If you like Birding this is a great place during migration. Keep in mind that during the summer months the mosquitoes can be unbearable.

Family friendly, lots to see. Enough to do for an entire day if you take it slow and enjoy the hikes!
