Richmond, California
Description

A scenic and still park just a stone throw's away from San Francisco. Bluffs and beach trails that offer views of Mt. Tamalpais and the bay. Meadows of wildflowers and aromatic eucalyptus forests that bring on the serenity.
Point Pinole Regional Shoreline is a 2,315-acre parkland that juts out into the San Pablo Bay. Only a brief car ride from San Francisco, this is a great spot for a Sunday stroll, picnic or simply to find a quiet space.
There are several short trails to choose from that wind through eucalyptus groves, wildflower meadows and shoreline bluffs. Despite its proximity to the city you will notice how peaceful the park is. Arrive around sunset make your way out to the piers. Nothing beats watching the sun dip behind the distant peak and reflect on the colors of the water.
GETTING THERE: Parking lot is off of Giant Rd. Facing the shoreline, follow the path on your right that leads to a bridge (visible from parking lot). Walk across the bridge over the train tracks. From here you will see a playground and have several options of routes to venture.
RECOMMENDATION: Follow the western shoreline North towards the Pier. Be sure to check out the Eucalyptus forest en route. As you leave the Eucalyptus forest you'll emerge upon some bluffs - hop out to the edge and explore the sights of the curving shore. Walk to the Pier and check the ruins of the old pier - they make for some fun photo ops. You can create your own loop trail back. The park is small (from entrance to Pier is 1.8 miles) so you can pave your own path.
