Description

Part of Acadia National Park and almost off the radar is Schoodic Peninsula. Ravens Nest is an awesome location to catch a sunset or see the night sky with dramatic cliffs and ocean views. This is a hidden gem has few visitors and is perfect if you want nature all to yourself.

Ravens Nest is located east of Mt Desert Island south of Winter Harbor Maine. Taking the Schoodic Loop Road will get you to the pull off that you need to find Ravens Nest. There will be three pull offs on the side of the road, the third one will be for Ravens Nest that has a little unmarked trail beginning on the other side of the road from the pull off.

* Notice this road is a one way road so try not to miss the third pull off on the left hand side or you will have to do the complete loop around to get back.

The trail is really short and you will arrive at several cliffs that look out towards Mt. Desert Island. There are small paths with rope and signage to stay off the restoration areas but walking out to the cliffs does not interfere.

* Notice The cliffs are dangerous and people must proceed with extreme caution especially if going at night
