Explore Serenity Falls, Buderim

Buderim, Queensland

Description

Added by Mitch Henderson

Easy hike in/out (10-15 min.). Stunning scenery. Photogenic waterfall. Fresh water pond.

Perched atop Buderim Mountain (590ft), and among a 45 hectare secluded oasis, Buderim Forest and Serenity Falls are a short drive through the Sunshine Coast town of Buderim, along Quorn Close (approx 1km from Buderim village). From the car park, Serenity Falls are a short hike down hill along a relatively steep, but easy to navigate bush walking trail. Taking roughly 10-15 minutes at a steady pace to reach the falls, the trail is well used and signposted so you will have no issues finding the falls and won't become lost if you stick to the track. Half way along the hike there is a fork in the path. Both trails lead to the same destination, one via a hanging bridge (taking slightly less time). I'd recommend hiking in one way, and hiking out the other.

If you're a photographer looking to shoot the heavy flowing waterfall and streams, the best time to go is right after (or even during) heavy rain as it is when the waterfall really shows its power and you're likely to have the place to yourself. Alternatively, visit any time of day during any month of the year and you'll be treated to something special, albeit less flowing water.

Keep in mind the water temperature is almost always freezing cold, even in summer, however at the base of the waterfall there is a pond big enough to take a dip if you're feeling brave. Just be careful on the slippery surfaces!

The return hike to the car park can be made via the high arch bridge that spans the length of the waterfalls and offers a unique vantage point.

Getting there: From King street, Turn Right onto Lindsay Road (at the round about), Then Right onto Quorn Close. Follow this road to the next round about, where you will take the exit continuing onto Quorn Close. The car park and trail begins at the end of Quorn Close.

Phone reception can become scarce in Buderim. If using Google Maps, search for Quorn Close prior to arriving in Buderim.
