Brawley, California
Description
Added by Katch Silva
Scenic drive. Beautiful views of sand dunes all around. Dune buggies and dirt bike rentals available. Peaceful and serene. Remote desert experience close to home. Camping allowed.
The North Algodones Dunes Wilderness System offers 200 square miles of open dune wilderness to explore. You can do as little or as much as you want in this vast open space. Take a short hike, take lots of pictures, or make it an overnight camping trip in the desert.
The dunes are located north of State Highway 78, from the east side of Coachella Canal to Glamis. You can park at the Orborne Lookout Park (32° 59.01 N , 115° 07.96 W) and walk from there. There are no trails or trailheads, just open space to explore. Deeper into the area camping is allowed.
Dune buggy and dirt bike rentals are available for use at the Imperial Sand Dune area, the southern part. Makes for a really fun sand dune ride!
