If you're looking for an easy hike to a historic cave, Bronson Bat Caves is the adventure for you! The trail is family and dog friendly and includes a nice scenic view of the Hollywood sign.

Who doesn't enjoy a short hike to a scenic/remote location? I know I sure do! After hearing about this spot through word of mouth and the internet, and seemingly never having the time to check it out, I honestly have to say it was a worthwhile trip.

This short 0.6 out and back hike/walk to the famous Bronson Bat Caves was one not to disappoint. Once arriving and parking at Griffith Park (parking is free), you'll then make your way to the start of the trailhead. Follow the fire road to the right, passing a "Smokey The Bear" sign, which will then lead you Southeast to the canyon. After about a quarter-mile turn to your left to explore the 100 ft. tall rock wall tunnel. Once you make your way inside, check out the other chambers. As an added bonus, on the backside of the cave there's a cool spiral formation of well-placed rocks, and a great backdrop of the Hollywood sign.

A little history on the cave: Bronson Cave's most famous role came in the 1960's playing in the Batman TV series. Till this day the cave continues to be used in television shows and movies.

If you're looking for an easy hike that offers some fun, imagination and even a bit of history, then this is a hike you don't want to miss out on. As always, please pack out what you pack in, and keep it the way you left it. Happy Trails!!

Reviews

Had a ambient music event there.

The caves are closed indefinitely do to falling rocks. There are fences blocking the entrances.

This is a fun little hike, the caves are pretty neat but don't be expecting Bat's swirling around your head, for the caves are names after Batman not actual bats. For added fun scramble up some of the steeper foot paths going above the caves for better views.

If you're looking for a super easy and short hike with a neat payoff, then this is the place for you. The caves are a bit spooky, especially if you're exploring by yourself!
