Montana De Oro's Spooner's Cove offers plenty of stunning scenery. This is a beautiful spot with easy accessibility and it's dog friendly!
Spooner’s cove is one of those small hidden beaches where you can watch stunning sunsets in a peaceful environment. Located in Montana De Oro State Park, the small gem is surrounded by countless hikes and camping spot. It is also one of the only areas of the park that is dog friendly. If you are looking to have a romantic location, Spooner’s cove is a prime spot.
It is also a fantastic location for diving and free diving. You can dive straight off the beach and follow either sides of the cove to head out towards the open water (Be aware of rocks). You’ll find kelp forests about a quarter mile out, or some lost ship parts towards the south side.

Reviews
I love spooner’s cove. The beach is made of pebbles, not sand, which I love. There’s a big rock to scramble on (make sure you wear shoes with traction if you plan on going to the top). Overall great place!

Love this place. Beautiful cliffs, water, beach and so much more! Easy parking when we went years ago. Was there on a cloudy day and there were less than 10 people!

This is one of those places where each sunset is more beautiful than the next. Grab some food, gather your friends, and spend a great evening mesmerized by the view.
