Exploring Nevada's Pastel Canyon

Pastel Canyon or Pink Canyon is part of wash no. 5 in The Valley of Fire State Park and sits close to The Fire Wave and the White Dome trail yet since there is no official trail and isn't on any map it's hardly noticed.

To get to the slot canyon drive on Mouse's Tank Rd. in the Valley of Fire to Parking Lot #3 or park at the bottom of Wash no. 5 in a pullout. If you park at lot #3 follow the road west until you reach the bottom of Wash No. 5. There will be a small sign with a number 5 on it that denotes it's the wash. There will be no trail markings. At the wash, enter the canyon on the west side and you'll immediately enter this gorgeous pastel colored canyon.

The canyon goes for miles and offers a beautiful sandstone hike that can be sandy at times. Since there is no trail or markings you can go as far as you want but if you go out and explore the small side canyons keep track of where you are or you may get lost in the maze of sand and rocks.

To get back to your car return the way you came. Since this is not an official trail you will not find any water or facilities along the way. Please respect the area and help keep it pristine by not leaving trash along the way or breaking the sandstone.
