Get Outside: Basking in the Alpenglow

By: Scott Kranz + Save to a List

Get Outside is a weekly dose of inspiration to get you off the couch and enjoying what nature has to offer.

This adventure was definitely one for the books. My friend had never been snow camping before, so I thought what better place to go than the Mt. Baker backcountry in Washington State. We trekked from Heather Meadows up past Artist Point and Huntoon Point and found the perfect camp spot situated between Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan. Although the evening and night were overcast and partially cloudy, we woke up to beautiful clear skies and, best of all, this image of Mt. Baker basking in alpenglow! I captured this photograph and then stopped to soak in all of the mountain glory around us.
