Halifax Public Gardens
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Description
Added by Margaret L
Halifax Public Gardens was first established by the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society in 1836, and grew to its present size and layout in 1875. It was recognized as a National Historic Site in 1984.
The gardens are a perfect display of a Victorian garden, carefully laid out and well-tended for public enjoyment. A must see if you're visiting Halifax! Admission and tours are free, and volunteers are available and happy to answer any questions you may have.
The gardens are breathtaking and so detailed. Picturesque bridges and meandering water features are planted with lovely trees, shrubs, and flowers of all kinds. The wonderfully maintained planted areas are changed out seasonally so if you go at different times of the year, you never know what you’ll see.
The added historical information you find on the interpretive signs dotted, throughout the park, are great and informative. There are also regularly scheduled events, so be sure to check out the calendar to see what's on. A must see if you’re in Halifax and love gardens.

Reviews
Such a beautiful garden in the middle of the city! Never have I ever seen so many different plants and trees and place to just sit and relax, right in the middle of the city. we happen to go in the fall, and the colors were so amazing! The tours and admission we’re free. And the volunteers or so nice! The next time you’re in Halifax, make sure to stop by and put this on the list of places to see.
