A scenic exercise trail located around Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas

The Hike and Bike Trail around Lady Bird Lake provides great views of the city skyline from several different perspectives. It's perfect for exercising or just taking a stroll on. It's about a 10 mile looping trail however there are several points in which you can cross the river and make the loop shorter. There is also a boardwalk that extends out onto the river. The boardwalk has several sitting spots. Part of the trail is the James Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge which crosses the river between the Lamar and 1st st. bridges. This bridge is great location for watching the sunrise and sunset.

The river also serves as a popular paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing spot. During the summer months the 2 million Mexican Free-tailed bats fly out from under the Congress Bridge, a popular tourist attraction. Along with the bats, this area is home to many other wildlife species, such as a variety of birds like herons and ducks, turtles, nutrias, and fish.
