Description

Added by Curtis Childress

Cape Elizabeth's Dyer Cove on a foggy morning is a must-see. It transforms the landscape into a rocky coast akin to Iceland or the Faroe Islands.

If you venture to Cape Elizabeth, you may be lucky enough to see it in the dense fog that I was able to.

You'll take a windy road near Portland, Maine surrounded by cute, quaint homes on either side down to the rocky coastline. Park in the designated parking area (very easy to spot as the road's end is the parking lot) and walk straight down onto the beach. Covered in rock, its a little smelly, but beautiful nonetheless.

Afterwards head up onto a grassy knoll to the right of where you parked and down onto the rocks. Be careful, they're a bit slick, but well worth traversing to get to the edge of the water in about 20-30 feet. Cape Elizabeth is a beautiful place to think. Sit down on a rock, enjoy the view, and let the waves wash clarity over you.

This is such a good spot to watch a storm move in when the waves are crashing!
